More Photos of Ron's 2006 Sheep Hunt
Ron's desert bighorn sheep was taken on the left slope of this rocky bluff.
Sheep outfitter/guide Pat Feldt refilling water bottles from a rare, uncharted desert seep. The water was a little green with bugs in it, but we "made do" with a filter and iodine tablets.
Taking a cool break in the shade at a water catchment. These rock tanks are built in very remote wilderness areas with construction materials often being packed-in. They are developed by cooperative efforts of the AZ Game and Fish, volunteers of Arizona Desert Bighorn Sheep Society, and US Fish and Wildlife Service in an effort to enhance the desert sheep population.
A very young ram through the spotting scope. Just not what we were looking for.
Another very young ram through the spotting scope. We'll pass and give him a few more years to grow.
We found the ram we were looking for, an old broomed-off warrior! This is Ron's 13-year old desert ram only seconds before the shot.
