More Merriam's Turkey Photos
Charles Fowler from Ohio with a New Mexico Merriam's Gobbler. Outfitter Pat Feldt called in this Tom to 7 yards before Charles released an arrow. No blinds were used, just normal calling against a pine tree!
PJ Lampros with a big New Mexico Tom Merriams turkey. Without hearing a response from any gobbler, we decided to setup against a couple pines and just "cold call." Within a few minutes, this gobbler came walking into the set silently and strutted across a downed log before letting out a courtesy gobble. This beautiful bird has 1-2/16" spurs and a 10" beard, 22.0lbs.
Jarrod Hill and Ryan Rowe from Ohio with two nice New Mexico Merriam's turkey. Outfitter Pat Feldt called in this "double" within the first half-hour of the hunt. The 9" and 9½" long bearded toms strutted for the hen decoy before being taken simultaneously at 42 yards.
This New Mexico Merriam's turkey surprised us and came into the calling setup silently. He was taken at 20 yards with a little 20 gauge shotgun. This mature bird has two separate beards, 9½" and 4"!

Three turkeys taken on the same morning in New Mexico. The two toms on the left were called in together. The tom on the right has 1.25" hooks for spurs and weighed near 26 pounds!
